ACTIVITIES AND PROJECTS

  1. We collect Campbell soup labels to send in for cash for the various DAR Schools we support.
  2. We collect socks and stockings at Christmas for the children that attend our DAR Schools (Kate Duncan Smith DAR School, Grant, Alabama; Tamassee DAR School, Tamassee, South Carolina; Berry College, Mount Berry, Georgia; Crossnore School, Crossnore, North Carolina; Hillside School, Marlborough, Massachusetts; and Hindman Settlement School, Hindman, Kentucky.
  3. Each year, we present a certificate and pin to each student chosen by their schools that exemplifies the qualities of service, dependability, leadership, and patriotism. Then those students compete with an essay and the winning student is awarded a cash award. The winning student then goes on to compete at the State, Division, and finally, the National level, where a generous scholarship is awarded to the National winner.
  4. Each year we present a certificate and ROTC medal to each of the students chosen from our assigned schools who exemplify the best in ROTC training.
  5. We are available for sponsorship to students who apply for the various scholarships offered through the DAR organization (Scholarship Page).
  6. Over the years our chapter has placed seven historical markers throughout Ft. Lauderdale and continued to maintain them.
